Stabilized Construction Entrances and Exits

A stabilized construction site entrance is a short length of temporary pavement at the entrance to a construction site that serves to reduce the amount of clay, dirt and mud tracked into the adjoining roadway by vehicles leaving the site.

The paving is usually a six to twelve-inch layer of two to five-inch aggregate.  Often a layer of geotextile cloth is placed beneath the aggregate, especially on sites where soft soil is present and sites where very heavy equipment is used, to reduce the migration of the aggregate into the underlying soil.
